Type 2 is a kind of aggregate defined by its characteristics. It is the size, shape, and material that make it up which determines which type of aggregate you have. Today, we want to examine type 2 aggregates more closely.
What is Type 2 Aggregate?
To begin with, let’s answer the question of what exactly type 2 aggregate is. Type 2 aggregate has many names. Some call it a class 2 aggregate. Some call it a class 2 base. Some call it a sub base mix. The reason for this is because it is a blend of crushed up rocks and a powdered crushed rock mix.
What sets type 2 aggregate apart from other kinds of recycled aggregate that our family run business makes apart, is the combination in this blend. Most aggregates are all crushed to specific sizes. We do not need to crush Type 2 to specific sizes. Rather, the rocks are crushed to an acceptable small size and the other material is crushed into dust. This dust makes type 2 aggregate especially useful for certain tasks.
How We Make Type 2 Aggregate
To produce this material, we first collect old building works through assisting Suffolk companies with their demolitions. Once we have the material, we bring it back to our plant where we process it in a crusher. To make type 2 we must process two types of aggregate. The first is a small stone. We can set the size we wish the crusher to smash rocks to. We crush the stone down to a small size. After this, we crush further material down into brick dust. We then blend the two thoroughly to ensure full mixing throughout.
What do People use it for?
We sell type 2 aggregate to construction companies, individuals, and business alike. This is due to the high number of uses that it has. It has multiple uses because it is both a solidifying, tightly packed dirt, and an aggregate with small stones for grip.
Type 2 aggregate sees use in paths throughout the UK. Its combination of firm foundation and small stones allow it to create perfect paths without the addition of a second material. Alternatively, you can place your aggregate into other materials, like cement, to produce hard wearing surfaces such as the ones we drive our cars on. Paths, walkways, patios, and driveways, all commonly use type 2 aggregate.
